In April/May 2019, I enjoyed a 4000 kilometre month long road trip to South Australia, starting with Eyre Peninsula. Hopkins Island has been very fruitful, the rest of the diving there a tad disappointing. Similarly Yorke Peninsula produced one site, Wool Bay, which had really great conditions but otherwise there was little to be excited about.
Bob “Tango” Lewis, Steve Wagstaffe and I then drove to Fleurieu Peninsula and quickly wished we hadn’t! Rapid Bay Jetty on the west coast was not diveable and the underwater visibility at nearby Second Valley was generally a mere 3 metres. Although I did get an all too brief sighting of a Leafy Sea Dragon, we decided not to bother with a second dive there. On a good day, this would have been a fabulous dive.
As ever, Steve took some excellent surface shots which he has kindly let me put on this website.
