In January Mick Todd and I dived Taylors Bay, Mosman in what Mick termed as “Bull shark infested low visibility silty water” to look for a friends missing boat hook. We didn’t find it.
In February Mick and I dived Fairy Bower coming across a Wobbegong and a friendly Giant Cuttlefish. Giant Cuttlefish only live for two years so this one was probably near the end of its life cycle.
In March I again dived Fairy Bower, this time with Jon Shaw and also enjoyed two solo dives at Clifton Gardens, Chowder Bay photographing numerous Seahorses, Moray Eels, Cuttlefish and an Anglerfish.
In April I again twice solo dived Clifton Gardens photographing Seahorses, Moray Eels, an un-co-operative Octopus and a large Numbray. Annoyingly I failed to photograph a bird which all too briefly joined me underwater in a search of a meal.
In May I did two dives at Clifton Gardens with just a brief surface interval between the two and photographed a Sydney False Stonefish. Then enjoyed five brilliant dives with Della Ross and Tomas Mitchell - these were some of my best ever Sydney dives. Two of the dives were at Isolated Reefs, Bare Island, one at West Side, Bare Island and the other two at The Monument, Kurnell National Park. Della and Tomas showed me Red Indian Fish, Anglerfish, Velvetfish, Toadfish, Pygmy Pipe Horses, Weedy Sea Dragons, Sea Hares, Squid, a Bull Ray and Crocodilefish. Wow – what great dives. Thank you Della and Tomas.
