In May 2011 Mary and I enjoyed one dive at Merimbula Wharf.
Merimbula is located on the far south coast of New South Wales and is considered one of the prettiest towns in Australia. It started life in the 1850s as a village before developing into a port and service centre for the surrounding rural area and since the 1950s has been a popular resort, especially for holiday makers from Victoria.
Merimbula Wharf is on the northern side of Merimbula Bay. Diving is possible from a slippery rock platform to the side of the wharf but stride entries and great care are essential. Our dive guide was Scott Cowdrey of Merimbula Divers Lodge who showed us among other marine life Boarfish, Eels, Kingfish, Morwongs, Red Rock Cod, a large Stingray and an Octopus.
