Nuweiba is on the Sinai coast of Egypt about 180 kilometres north of Sharm el Sheikh, 70 kilometres south of Taba. The town of Nuweiba is built around the former Moshav Neviot which was established during the Israeli occupation in 1971. This is the boundary between two Bedouin tribes, the Muzeina Bedouin to the south and the Tarabiin Bedouin to the north. Nuweiba allows easy access to Jordan with daily ferries taking just 90 minutes to reach Aqaba. In September 1998 Eve and I joined a two-day Aqua Sport Jeep safari from Eilat, Israel led by Linda Chappell. The first day of this safari was spent diving (my dives 93 and 94) Ras Malachi which is south of Nuweiba before moving onto Dahab. Fish highlights were an octopus and juvenile squid. In June 1999 I returned to Nuweiba for a dive (my dive 122) on the local house reef, Abou Lou Lou. My dive buddy and guide was Mohamed from Emperor Divers who were based at the Nuweiba Hilton. Among various fish highlights that we saw were three cuttlefish. Over five years later on Christmas Eve 2005 I again spent a day in Nuweiba with Emperor Divers. My dive buddy for two dives (my dives 1177 and 1178) was Colin Mitchell. Our first dive, my 200th dive of 2005, was the M.F.O. Pipeline dive site. M.F.O. is an abbreviation for Multi-national Force Observers and the pipes are desalination pipes. We began the dive at the desalination pipes and enjoyed an easy dive in good visibility. Fish highlights were Batfish and a juvenile Scorpionfish. Our second dive was on the local house reef, Abou Lou Lou and fish highlights were a Stonefish and Burrfish
